Barry is Senior Managing Partner, responsible for contributing to the development and execution of our strategic and corporate goals, which includes oversight of relationships with capital partners that have interest in our funds as well as identifying and executing strategic transactions that enhance our platform. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2002, Barry was employed for 16 years at various Wall Street financial institutions in numerous capacities including, advisory, financing, mergers and acquisitions and fund formation.
Jeff is Senior Managing Partner responsible for strategic planning and transaction execution as well as the company's utility and infrastructure operations. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2000, Jeff was a senior partner at Goodman and Carr, LLP. Jeff's practice focused on merchant banking transactions, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs, restructurings and private equity transactions. Jeff was called to the Bar in Ontario as a Gold Medalist in 1974.
Ric is Senior Managing Partner, Commercial Properties. Appointed in 2002, Ric is responsible for the company's overall North American real estate operations and real estate equity investments, building on his previous role as President of the company's U.S. Commercial Operations. Ric has been employed with the company's affiliate, Brookfield Properties, and its predecessors since 1984 in various executive roles. A Certified Public Accountant in the United States, Ric holds a Business degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Denis is Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate and International Affairs. Prior to joining Brookfield in November 2006, Denis was Senior Vice President, Investor Relations, Communications and Public Affairs of international mining company Falconbridge Limited (and its predecessor Noranda Inc.) for seven years. Denis was also Vice President, Communications and Government Relations for Domtar Inc.,
a Montreal-based paper company. He holds a law degree from Université de Montréal.
Steve was appointed Senior Managing Partner in September 2006 and is responsible for the company's overall operations. He was most recently employed as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Falconbridge Limited for three years. Prior to joining Falconbridge, Steve held the same position within Brookfield Properties Corporation for six years and was employed for three years before that in various senior management positions at Brookfield. Steve is a chartered accountant.
Bruce is Senior Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of the company. Bruce was appointed to this position in February 2002, following eight years in various senior executive positions in Brookfield's real estate operations. Bruce joined Brookfield in 1990 and worked in a number of the company's operations prior to joining the real estate business in 1994. Bruce holds a Business degree from the University of Manitoba.
Joe is Senior Managing Partner and General Counsel. Joe joined Brookfield in 2002 and is responsible for M&A transaction execution. Joe was formerly a lawyer in the corporate finance group at Goodman and Carr LLP where he specialized in private equity transactions and public company mergers and acquisitions. Joe holds a joint MBA\LL.B from York University's Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School and was named one of Canada's top 40 under 40 in house counsel by Lexpert magazine.
Harry is Managing Partner and Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Power, the company's power operations. Harry joined Brookfield in 1997 and is currently responsible for Brookfield Power's strategic initiatives, governmental and regulatory affairs, and monitoring the electricity industry's restructuring and deregulation initiatives. Harry was called to the Ontario Bar in 1982 following his graduation from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University in 1980.
Clifford is Managing Partner, Public Securities. Clifford brings over 24 years of fixed income experience to Brookfield in research, investment strategies and portfolio management. He is responsible for expanding Brookfield's public market and distribution capabilities in public fixed income, through the development of CDOs, closed end funds and other structured products. Clifford is also responsible for the management of Crystal River Capital, a mortgage REIT and our public and private mutual funds. Clifford earned a BA from the University of California-Berkeley and an MBA from California State University, San Francisco.
Brian is Senior Managing Partner and Chief Financial Officer. Brian has held senior management positions within Brookfield since the early 1990's. As Chief Financial Officer, Brian is responsible for Brookfield's financial reporting and corporate finance activities. Brian graduated from the University of Toronto and subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
Richard is Senior Managing Partner and President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Power. Appointed in 2000, Richard is responsible for the power generation operations at Brookfield. Richard was previously Vice-President, Energy Division of James Maclaren Industries, an affiliate of Norbord, where he formerly held various senior energy and financial positions. Richard has a Bachelor of Accounting from the Université du Québec in Hull, and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Cyrus is Senior Managing Partner responsible for the Bridge Lending and Restructuring Groups as well as the development of platforms for new Funds. A member of the Brookfield team since 1998 when he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Brookfield's real estate brokerage business. Cyrus has extensive experience in corporate finance, merchant banking and restructuring across a broad range of industries, including forestry, steel and manufacturing. Cyrus began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he worked in Corporate Finance and Recovery. Cyrus is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queens University.
Marcelo is Managing Partner responsible for expanding the company's asset management in South America. A chemical engineer by training, Marcello has extensive global management experience across industries and functions including strategic planning, sales and marketing, finance in the agrochemicals, photographic chemical business and cement and plaster industries in the U.K., South America and the Netherlands. Marcello holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and earned his engineering degree from Catholic University,
Rio de Janeiro.
George is Senior Managing Partner and has primary responsibility for strategic planning and business development. George has held a number of senior positions within Brookfield since joining the company in 1981 and has been instrumental in the development and growth of Brookfield's asset management business. George is a Chartered Accountant and an industrial engineering graduate of the University of Toronto.
As President, European Real Estate, Scott is responsible for expanding Brookfield's real estate operations throughout Europe. Scott brings to Brookfield over a decade of European real estate acquisitions and investment experience, most recently at Land Securities PLC where he was Business Development Director. He also spent more than ten years at GE Commercial Finance Real Estate, where he led the UK Business Development team. Scott is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Lori is Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2003,
Lori worked at Ernst and Young for 15 years, most recently as Director of Human Resources in their Tax Business Unit. Lori is a Chartered Accountant and graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Ivey School of Business with an Honours Business degree and holds a Diploma of Adult Education from OISE (The Ontario Institute for Studies in Adult Education) in Toronto.
Sam is Senior Managing Partner and Co-head of Infrastructure Activities. Sam is responsible for the expansion of our infrastructure operating platform and Brookfield's proprietary investment initiatives. Sam joined Brookfield's financial services operation in 1994 and has held various senior positions in the organization, including leadership of the company's financial advisory services and merchant banking operations. Sam is a Chartered Accountant and holds a business degree from Queen's University.
Aaron is Senior Managing Partner and Co-head of Infrastructure Activities. Aaron is responsible for the expansion of our infrastructure operating platform and Brookfield's proprietary investment initiatives. Prior to re-joining Brookfield in September 2006, Aaron was employed for six years by Falconbridge Limited and Noranda, most recently as President of Falconbridge following the amalgamation of the two companies in 2005. Aaron’s previous experience includes CFO of Brookfield and other senior management positions within the Group since 1992.
Bruce is Senior Managing Partner, Funds Development and is responsible for the development of private and listed funds. Since 1996, Bruce has held various senior management positions within Brookfield and its affiliates, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate financings, merchant banking and corporate restructurings in a number of industries. Bruce is a Chartered Accountant and earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) at Queen's University.
Joyce, Global Head, Client Relationship Management, joined Brookfield in August 2007 to expand Brookfield’s asset management business with institutional clients and build Brookfield’s client services team. Joyce was previously employed in a similar role at La Salle Investment Management and brings with her significant management and multinational experience advising investors in the real estate groups at a number of global banking institutions, including Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan, JP Morgan Investment Management and Citigroup. Her background includes loan and portfolio restructuring along with portfolio management expertise.
Katherine was appointed Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and Client Communications in September 2007. She joined Brookfield in 2000 to build the investor relations functions for Brookfield Properties and subsequently, Brookfield Asset Management. Her prior business experience includes a similar position at a major North American real estate company, and 10 years in the Financial Services industry. Katherine holds an MBA degree from the Ivey School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.
